Link Bus Services driver sadly died in a Tuesday night accident on the Fort Portal-Kyenjojo highway. Driver Dauda Kawuwa was operating a bus with registration number UAY 485E when it collided with a stationary truck carrying logs.
Tom Alinde, Public Relations Manager at Link Bus Services, believes the parked truck had a mechanical problem. It was located on a downslope without warning signs. Due to this, Mr. Kawuwa unintentionally crashed into it, resulting in his tragic death. During an interview with KFM, Alinde shared these details.
As of 9:10 pm Tuesday night, the driver’s body remained trapped inside the wrecked bus. Alinde explained that while Kawuwa tried to save the bus, he was close to the lorry. The impact of the logs proved fatal.
Alinde also revealed that two staff members from Link Bus accident Services had been admitted to Kyenjojo hospital with minor injuries.
This incident occurred shortly after Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, instructed the Uganda Police Force and Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to remove stationary vehicles from the road. The accident follows another tragic event in which businessman Apollo Nyagamehe, known as Aponye, lost his life instantly when his vehicle collided with a parked lorry on the Kabale-Mbarara highway. The collision occurred around 9:30 pm on the previous Thursday as Nyagamehe was en route to Rukiga District.
